Introducing Our Reference Coherent Optical Receiver CORX

IQ Multi-Format Transmitter

The  Coherent Optical Receiver (CORX) is a turnkey ready instrument designed to interface with any real-time oscilloscope by providing 4 single-ended outputs. It allows the coherent detection of polarization multiplexed optical signals in C-Band by means of mixing the test signal with a local oscillator laser.

It is available in 60GHz, 40GHz and 20GHz bandwidth variants to meet the requirements of your application and budget. The 60GHz model enhances your research to enable the reception of Terabit Class Signals and baud rates up 128 GBaud/s.

The the fully integrated coherent optical receiver instrument mixes optical signals with a local oscillator signal and a polarization diverse detector setup with 4 output channels. This device provides excellent quality and matched channels optimized for analysis of dual polarization multi-level transmission formats at very high symbol rates. It is suitable as a reference receiver setup for transmitter characterization and analysis of IQ modulated optical signals in C-Band.

The unit comprises trans-impedance amplifiers to allow real-time Oscilloscopes or A-D connection even for low power signals. Per-channel variable RF gain and peaking adjustments allows to adapt and compensate for imperfections of the RF chain.

A built-in tunable laser operates as a local oscillator for coherent mixing of the signal.

The unit is controlled via a built-in Webserver eliminating the need for software installation on a remote PC and enabling any handheld device to access the unit via browser.

A SCPI based programming API allows straightforward implementation of automated test scripting and remote control.

Introducing the ID OSA Optical Spectrum Analyzer

IDPhotonics IDOSA SideView web res 450wide

This instrument is a versatile Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA) based on a coherent detection principle provides picometer class spectral resolution across the C-Band (1528.5 – 1567.5nm) or L-Band (1569.1 - 1609.7nm).

4 Key factors make this instrument an ideal solution for spectral monitoring in R&D and production test applications:

  • Cost Effective - Less than 30% of a traditional OSA

  • Rugged - No Calibration required and no moving Optical Parts

  • Fast - Scans available band at full Resolution in 0.5 seconds

  • Compact - Half Size 1HE 19 Inch Stacking

Two input ports with different sensitivity boost the available power range beyond 90dB allowing accurate analysis of both low power signals as well as high power DWDM bands. The optical input connector plate can be removed by the user allowing to clean the input port connectors effectively. It is controlled via USB or Ethernet interface by a provided Graphical User Interface (GUI) for Windows PCs or by a SCPI command set. Important measurement parameters such as Optical Signal To Noise Ratio (OSNR) or channel power are calculated inside the unit.

Modular Multi-Terabit Turn-Key Solution for Testing your Elastic Optical Network Designs

Bandwidth explosion requires pushing the envelope of next generation transmission systems to new capacity limits using high-order complex modulation formats, such as 16-QAM and flexible channel grid systems to allow for closer channel spacing and ultimately higher system capacity.

ID Photonics and Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute jointly developed a modular test solution that provides researchers and engineers a comprehensive way to design and test future ultra-high capacity network architectures for the coherent transmission era using various modulation formats and channel configurations with unsurpassed ease of operation.

This joint development consists of an optical multi-format transmitter that enables a flexible generation of optical data signals with various modulation formats (PSK, QPSK, 16-QAM, etc.) f.

ID Photonics versatile carrier comb generator provides up to 200 DWDM channels and consists of narrow line-width tunable lasers optimized for coherent transmission. On that basis, the platform allows for generation of multi-Terabit/s test signals using different modulation formats, carrier spacings and wavelength bands in a very flexible way by just a few mouse clicks. The modular design of pluggable tunable laser units with an industry-leading portfolio of chassis variants adapts to customers’ needs and easily allows extension of existing installations.

The platform comes with an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) and a digital signal processing (DSP) library for generation of arbitrary waveforms. This enables tailored adaptation to customer specific implementations and data formats.
